Market Research’s “Cliffs Notes”

November 2012 Book Review

Strategic Market Research

A Guide to Conducting Research that Drives Business
If you’re finding yourself mired in the complexities of research and analysis, or overwhelmed with developing research strategies, this book will help steer you onto the right path.  I knew this was going to be the book for me, when on page one Beall states:
"I had been trained to be an academic researcher and to teach college students, but I wanted to do more.  I wanted to use my skills to help organizations.  I wanted to make a difference.”
She outlines a simply course of action for research strategies and provides the pros and cons to different methods.  To top it off, she touches on best practices in analysis and communicating insights.
“Knowing something is great, but only if you can act on the information.  There is very little point to asking a question if the information cannot be used.”
At slightly less than 75 pages, Beall found a way to extract the most valuable lessons outlined in a 500 plus page textbook.
